I don't know about you, but we get phishing emails every day. Some from eBay, some from PayPal, some from Banks we do not even do business with. I have to admit, they are getting better and better as the years go by. Here is a great article that dissects a phishing email and I hope is a help to you.

Track packages using RSS and your Feed Reader

Do you use RSS to monitor News, or websites that you follow? Did you know that you can track packages using RSS also? Shipping: Dimensional Weight Errors Can Cost Big Bucks

Here is a great article on how the size of a package can cost you a pretty big chunk of change, so be carful when shipping large packages. In our  industry, the packaging industry, a lot of our products are light but bulky and we run into this issue often. Sometimes it cannot be avoided, but it is better to know this upfront, then get hit later on with additional fees. The author of the below article also offers a great free excel spreadsheet to help calculate box sizes and if they will be hit with Dimensional fees, and what those costs will be.:

"There are mistakes that can cost you when calculating shipping and handling fees. A big one is missing a UPS, FedEx or U.S. Postal Service DIM (dimensional) or oversize rule for large or lightweight packages.

The term “DIM” refers to package shipping density, meaning the weight of the package in pounds per cubic foot. If your package is big enough, or if the weight is small enough, the DIM rules can make your shipping costs dramatically increase.

For example, to ship a carton as small as 18” x 18” x 18”, UPS and FedEx DIM rules substitute 31 pounds as the minimum billing weight, even if the actual weight is much less. Or, for a carton as small as 27” x 27” x 27”, UPS and FedEx will add a $45 oversize surcharge on top of the DIM weight"

What do all those numbers mean on a Credit Card?

Do you get tired of asking your customers, is that a Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or Discover Card? You may or may not already know, but you can tell the type of card by the first number of the credit card. All Credit Cards starting with a 3 are AMEX or Diner's Club, 4 is Visa, 5 is Mastercard, and 6 is Discover. So stop asking is that a ............ card, now you know what it is! :) That is just the first number, see what the other numbers mean in the article linked below.

Google can Track your FedEx, UPS, USPS & DHL Packages!

Yes, you heard me right! Google does Searches, Email, Maps, etc. But did you know Google could also track your packages for you? Have you ever ordered something online, received a tracking number, but did not know if it was a UPS, FedEx, USPS or DHL tracking number?  No problem for Google! Goto Google.com or, if you use the Google toolbar it is even easier. Just punch the tracking number into the search box, and click search, no need to enter anything else, Google knows all!

Google will then return a result like this:

Track FedEx package 4933 1613 0047 959 www.fedex.com

Just click it! then you will be brought to the correct carrier that the tracking number belongs to, and hopefully you will see this:

Delivered

On this page you will also see, ship date, delivery date, weight, reference, and method of shipping.(Ground, Next Day, 2nd Day, etc.)

So go give it a try!

Here's another great tip! Do you ship time sensitive packages? Does your customer need it, like now!?  How would you ship it if they needed it in 2 days?
