CLEANING UP 11 MILLION PACKAGES. Stamford, CT, skin care and beauty product company Bath Nation shipped the 11 millionth package through Carrier Pickup Online Notification, the easy, convenient way to send packages. And, if 11 million total packages isn’t enough of a milestone, June also has been the busiest Carrier Pickup month ever — with more than 1.4 million packages collected. Carrier Pickup lets customers submit online requests for pickups the next delivery day — or up to 3 months in advance.

SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING COUNCIL. USPS has launched a Small Business Marketing Council to better meet the postal needs of the nation’s 20 million small businesses. Members include National Small Business Foundation, Association of American Chamber of Commerce Executives, National Black Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Women Business Owners and other national organizations. USPS Chief Marketing Officer Anita Bizzotto will co-chair the council with Association for Postal Commerce President Gene Del Polito. Council activities will include seminars, workshops, market research, trade show exhibits and publications.

POSTAL SERVICE AWARDS CONTRACT FOR MOTOR VEHICLESWashington, D.C. - The United States Postal Service has awarded a contract to DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC of Auburn Hill, MI, in the amount of $60,501,660 for the production of carrier route vehicles. DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC was awarded this contract on June 30, 2005, and will supply the Postal Service with 3,100 left-hand drive minivans and 10 clean diesel vehicles by November 30, 2005, in a firm fixed-price contract. To complete the order, DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC will subcontract with OEM Systems, Inc. of Centreville, IL, a woman-owned, small business. This company will customize the vehicles to meet Postal Service needs by adding such features as interior partitions, rear mirrors and specialized floor mats.
