Hurricane Katrina Update:

As of 3 p.m. ET, Hurricane Katrina is out to sea and gaining strength with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph. Forecasters are predicting the storm will head toward the Gulf Coast. Storm preparations are underway along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

Hurricane Katrina is expected to strengthen into a category 4 storm by the time it makes landfall.

South Florida District
All mail processing plants resumed operations and drop shipments Friday at 3 p.m.

All retail units in ZIP Codes 330, 331 and 332 normally open Saturdays are operational, but many sites are still without power. Generators have been deployed to those sites, but retail services will be limited.

Mail delivery is underway throughout the South Florida District.

All other Districts are fully operational at this time.
