Post Offices help customers “turn trash into treasure”

Kentuckiana catches ebay fever

Post Offices help customers “turn trash into treasure”

Kentuckiana District has held more than 50 eBay Day events with 101 Post Offices participating.

Oak Grove, KY, Postmaster Emily Vass explains information on a chart during an eBay seminar (Kentucky New Era photo).

District postmasters are seeing more people use the online auction site to both buy and sell. “It’s really caught on,” Fort Campbell Postmaster Claudia Rankin told The Kentucky New Era. “Five or six years ago, it wasn’t like this.”

Rankin joined the Oak Grove, Pembroke and Herndon postmasters to host an eBay workshop. “You can sell anything and everything,” said Herndon Postmaster Teresa Jessup. “We wanted to tell people how we could help make it easier.”

“You can’t categorize an eBay user,” Vass said. “It’s easier than a yard sale and you get your item seen in more homes. Your trash may be someone else’s treasure.”
